Collection and Distribution of Supplies

Many Mayan children are lacking what we take for granted - like a single pair of matching shoes.

 

Throughout the year Mayan Families Canada collects items to be distributed to individuals in Guatemala, where 21% of the population lives in extreme poverty. Many things that we take for granted are simply not available to these people, but are greatly needed.

 

Volunteers travel to Guatemala with their own personal items in a carry-on, their checked luggage full of these donated items for distribution.

 

The following items are required

Footwear in excellent condition, including children's cleats (nothing larger than ladies size 7)

Personal hygiene items (soap, tooth brushes, combs, brushes, hair supplies, new underwear, children's socks, lip chap)

New school supplies (pencils, pencil cases, erasers, rulers, solar-powered calculators, excluding paper - no pens or paper, please)

New or excellent condition back Packs

Small new toys (skipping ropes, jacks, small balls, and deflated soccer balls)

No clothing, please as it's too bulky to transport
